Zaun raises $1.5M to build AI-native SecOps

Today we're announcing $1.5M in preseed funding to build the AI-native SecOps platform.

The round was led by Afore Capital, with participation from 10VC, Spacecadet, and Logos Fund. We were also lucky to bring in a group of AI and security leaders as angels, the kind of operators we want on speed dial when the hard problems show up.

Why we're building Zaun

Security teams are drowning. The average SOC handles tens of thousands of alerts per week, runs 40 to 80 different tools, and still cannot answer the basic question of what's actually happening in their environment right now. Coverage gaps are everywhere. Headcount cannot scale to fill them. And the pace of new attack surface, especially around AI tools and agents, is only accelerating.

We don't think the answer is more dashboards or another co-pilot. It's an AI-native platform that does the work end to end: ingest, correlate, investigate, and resolve.

That breaks down into two things we care about:

• Expand coverage into places teams cannot afford to staff today. AI tool monitoring, identity drift, custom agent telemetry, the long tail of detections that never make it into a sprint.
• Make security operations efficient. The work that genuinely needs human judgment should land on a desk already triaged, contextualized, and ready to act on. Everything else should be done before anyone notices.

For teams that want a 24/7 layer on top of all of this, our MDR offering plugs straight into the same platform. Same telemetry, same playbooks, same investigations. The platform is the product. MDR is how some customers consume it.
