Founding Ops

Build the systems that let a tight team move fast. People, finance, recruiting, and the rhythms behind it.

About the role

You will be the first dedicated operator at Zaun. People ops, finance ops, recruiting, and the operating cadence that keeps a small team aligned without bloating into committees.

This is a player-coach role with the player part being most of it for the first year. You will scope and ship work independently and bring in vendors and contractors where it makes sense.

What you'll do

  • Own recruiting operations: pipeline, scheduling, offers, closing
  • Run people ops: comp, equity, onboarding, benefits, payroll
  • Own finance ops: bookkeeping, AP/AR, monthly close with the firm
  • Set up and run the GA, BI, and RevOps stack
  • Build the rhythms: weekly all-hands, planning, board prep

Who you are

  • Five or more years across operations at startups, including time before Series B
  • Generalist who can scope and ship without supervision
  • Strong written communicator, sweats the small stuff
  • High agency. You see what is missing and pick it up

Nice to have

  • Past work as a chief of staff or BizOps lead
  • Comfort with SQL, basic data work, and modern AI tools
